What it is
The 2026 championship ends here on 6 December, with the race starting in daylight and finishing under floodlights. Yas Island is purpose-built for this weekend: the circuit, the hotels, the theme parks and the after-race concerts at Etihad Park all sit within one walkable island, and the race ticket includes the headline gigs. If the title goes to the wire, this is where it gets decided; if it doesn't, it is still the easiest-logistics Grand Prix on the calendar.
Seat — tickets
Two markets in one: in title-decider years demand spikes late and resale climbs through November; in dead-rubber years grandstands soften in the final month. The Abu Dhabi Hill general admission is the sleeper ticket — a natural amphitheatre over the marina section with the concert stage access included. Grandstand pick matters less than at most circuits because the big screens and the hotel-and-marina backdrop do a lot of the work. Resale is legal and liquid here; compare all-in totals across marketplaces.

Stay — where to sleep
Corniche-area 4-stars
Notably cheaper than the island on race week, and the Corniche beachfront is a proper base. You trade a 30-minute taxi each way for a much better nightly rate.
The Yas Plaza cluster (Crowne Plaza, Radisson et al)
Five minutes' walk to the gates, shared pools and a shuttle to everything on the island. The sweet spot of price and convenience — books out months ahead of the finale.
W Abu Dhabi — Yas Island
The hotel is literally on top of the track — the circuit passes underneath it. Watching qualifying from the hotel is a bucket-list flex priced accordingly.
Go — getting there
- Stay on Yas Island and the whole weekend is walkable or a free island shuttle — this is the rare Grand Prix where you can do the entire trip without thinking about transport once.
- From downtown Abu Dhabi: taxis are cheap and plentiful (25-35 minutes). On race day allow an extra half hour for the island filter queues.
- Doing it from Dubai is common and fine: 50-70 minutes each way by car. Book a return driver for race day rather than gambling on the post-race taxi scrum.
- From the UK: direct London-Abu Dhabi is about 7 hours, and the race's twilight start means UK-friendly viewing for anyone left at home.
Make a trip of it
The after-race concerts are included with race tickets and the headliners are stadium-grade — don't book dinner for race-night. Stay Sunday night; flying out straight after the finale wastes the best evening.
