It is the most physically demanding weekend on the calendar for drivers and close to it for spectators — thirty degrees at ten at night with humidity to match. What separates it from every other Grand Prix is the entertainment: the Padang stage books genuine stadium headliners across the three nights, and most tickets include them, so you are buying a music festival with a Formula 1 race attached rather than a race with a support act.

- This is the easiest circuit in Formula 1 to reach. The MRT runs to stations inside the circuit footprint, it is cheap, air-conditioned and it runs late — use it rather than a taxi, which will be caught in the same closures you are trying to avoid.
- Almost every hotel worth staying in is walkable or two MRT stops away. Unlike Austin or Miami, you do not have to solve a transport problem before you book a bed.
- From the UK it is a 13-hour flight and a seven-hour time difference the wrong way. The race finishes late local time, so the trip is genuinely brutal on the body clock — arrive Wednesday if you possibly can, not Friday.
