Getting there
- This is the easiest circuit in Formula 1 to reach. The MRT runs to stations inside the circuit footprint, it is cheap, air-conditioned and it runs late — use it rather than a taxi, which will be caught in the same closures you are trying to avoid.
- Almost every hotel worth staying in is walkable or two MRT stops away. Unlike Austin or Miami, you do not have to solve a transport problem before you book a bed.
- From the UK it is a 13-hour flight and a seven-hour time difference the wrong way. The race finishes late local time, so the trip is genuinely brutal on the body clock — arrive Wednesday if you possibly can, not Friday.
Where to stay
Shared by every event in this building. Which tier is worth it changes with the event — a fight weekend and a Sunday league game price the same room very differently — but the geography does not.
Inside the circuit
Marina Bay Sands or the Fullerton
Some rooms and pool decks overlook sections of track. Premium priced and worth pricing anyway, because you skip every gate queue.
Smart
Bugis or Clarke Quay
Two MRT stops out, a fraction of the Marina Bay rate, and better places to eat than the hotel strip.
Budget
Chinatown or Little India
Cheapest beds within easy reach of the circuit, and the best hawker food in the city is on your doorstep.
Make a trip of it
The concerts are not a support act here — the Padang stage books stadium-level headliners and they are included with most tickets, which materially changes what the ticket is worth. Beyond the race: hawker centres over restaurants every time, Gardens by the Bay after dark, and the National Gallery when the heat wins.
