Getting there
- Trains run from London Waterloo to Twickenham in about half an hour, and they are rammed for three hours before kick-off. Go early, or go via Richmond and walk the last twenty minutes along the river.
- The walk from the station to the ground takes fifteen minutes and passes most of the pubs, which is why it takes an hour. That is the tradition, not a delay.
- Driving is a poor idea: residential parking restrictions cover a wide radius on match days and getting out afterwards is slow.
Make a trip of it
The fixture list decides the trip, not the other way round. Wait for the autumn release before booking flights — kick-off times move between Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Sunday, and a Friday-night fixture in Paris is a completely different weekend to a Sunday one.
