Getting there
- Trains run from London Waterloo to Twickenham in about half an hour, and they are rammed for three hours before kick-off. Go early, or go via Richmond and walk the last twenty minutes along the river.
- The walk from the station to the ground takes fifteen minutes and passes most of the pubs, which is why it takes an hour. That is the tradition, not a delay.
- Driving is a poor idea: residential parking restrictions cover a wide radius on match days and getting out afterwards is slow.
Where to stay
Shared by every event in this building. Which tier is worth it changes with the event — a fight weekend and a Sunday league game price the same room very differently — but the geography does not.
Match-day easy
Richmond or Twickenham itself
Walk or one stop to the ground, riverside pubs, and you are out of the central-London price bracket.
Make a weekend of it
Central London, Waterloo or South Bank
Direct trains from Waterloo and the whole city for the rest of the weekend.

Near Heathrow, cheap, and a short hop round to Twickenham on the day.
Make a trip of it
Richmond Park and the river walk from Richmond to Twickenham are the best hours of the trip if the weather holds. The World Rugby Museum at the stadium runs tours on non-match days.
